Job summary

SmartStop Self Storage in California seeks a Corporate Accountant to prepare financial reports tracking assets, liabilities, P&L, taxes and related activities. The role is 100% on-site at the Ladera Ranch headquarters with a starting salary of $95,000 plus discretionary bonus.

Responsibilities include consolidations, monthly reporting from property accountants, journal entries, GL maintenance, and internal/external reporting support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
• 1–3 years’ experience in Public Accounting and/or private company accounting.
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Understanding of GAAP and regulatory standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Real Estate/REIT experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs general accounting and related duties in the accounting department.
• Assists with monthly financial statement consolidation and quarterly packages for senior management.
• Coordinates and reviews monthly reporting from property accountants.
• Produces journal entries, reconciliations and other general accounting tasks.
• Maintains the general ledger and related schedules.
• Prepares internal variance analyses and reports.
• Assists with external financial statement audits.
• Supports treasury activities as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
