Job summary

Wallick Communities seeks a Staff Accountant, Construction/Development to support funding, ledgers, and cost control for residential projects in the New Albany area. You will prepare monthly funding packets, review loan documents, and maintain accurate project records across multiple sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of construction accounting experience.
  • HUD and LIHTC accounting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Submit monthly funding requests to financing sources while projects are under construction.
  • Respond to questions related to funding requests and maintain documentation.
  • Review loan documents and determine documentation requirements.
  • Maintain project ledgers, settlement statements, funding requests, and closeouts.
  • Review construction costs in software for accuracy and submit invoices to AP.
  • Assist in property audits focusing on fixed assets and forecast revenue.

What You'll Do
  • Submit monthly funding requests to financing sources while projects are under construction.
  • Effectively respond to questions related to funding requests.
  • Maintain internal documentation showing the status of each funding request.
  • Review loan documents and determine documentation requirements for each funding request.
  • Maintain all aspects of project ledgers, including recording settlement statements, monthly funding requests, and final project closeout to place projects into service.
  • Review project costs in construction software for accuracy.
  • Submit invoices to Accounts Payable, review project AP activity, and assist with weekly check selections.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of property audits with a primary focus on fixed assets.
  • Assist with forecasting Development and Construction revenue.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of construction accounting experience.
  • Experience with construction accounting for residential property management preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of HUD and LIHTC accounting is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including intermediate-level advanced functions and concepts.
  • Experience with construction accounting software; Yardi and Procore are highly preferred.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting financial reports.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
