CORP H&W/CERTIFIED MEDICAL CODER - (CPC) Remote (Finance)

Possess a thorough working knowledge of the revenue cycle management process including ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT-4, and HCPCS Billing. Responsibilities include ensuring reimbursement is maximized through accurate and appropriate coding. Accountable for staying updated on government policies and procedures related to coding to ensure compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Medical Coder
  • Strong understanding of industry/technical terms and processes
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2+ years of medical coding experience
  • Ability to abstract clinical information from medical records to document, assign, and sequence ICD-9, CPT-4, and HCPCS coding where appropriate
  • Experience in auditing, reviewing, and correcting claims with inaccurate or missing codes
  • Ability to perform qualitative analysis of medical records for documentation consistency and adequacy
  • Participation in medical record audits to ensure appropriate coding
  • Assist in managing CPT-4 and ICD-9 databases within the Electronic Medical Record
  • Evaluate processes within the area of responsibility to recommend and participate in process improvement initiatives
  • Assist in developing policies and procedures for the department
  • Assist in developing ongoing education and training tools for the Data Entry Department
  • Review reports to identify trends in nonpayment and collaborate with management to resolve issues
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
