Job summary

Brown University Health seeks a Registered Nurse to oversee direct patient care at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. Under supervision of the Clinical Manager, you will implement and evaluate nursing care using the nursing process across the lifespan, including discharge planning and family education.

Responsibilities include supervising ancillary staff, collaborating with the healthcare team, and participating in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in Rhode Island or eligible to practice under the Nurse Licensure Compact.
• Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred.
• Ability to provide care across the life span with cultural sensitivity.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care.
• Leads and delegates nursing care in collaboration with ancillary staff.
• Evaluates patient care outcomes and identifies improvement opportunities.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team, patient, family and community services.
• Provides teaching based on patient and family needs.
• Participates in unit-based quality improvement and research activities.
• Keeps clinical competencies up-to-date per credentialing standards and safety education.
• Serves as a role model/preceptor to new graduates and less experienced staff.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as delegated.
