Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Tissue/Cornea Transplant Technician to evaluate corneas for transplantation and perform aseptic processing. The role includes labeling, packaging, and inventory management of ocular tissues, with emphasis on accuracy and compliance with OR standards.

Responsibilities include tissue packaging, delivery, maintenance of equipment, and assisting with training of technicians.

Qualifications

• Education requires two years of college with science coursework or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience as an ocular or tissue transplant technician.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in basic science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate corneas for transplantation using slit lamp, specular microscope and OCT.
• Perform aseptic processing of corneas and sclera, including DSAEK, DMEK, ALK and glycerol preservation.
• Label and move cornea and scleral allografts to released inventory.
• Package tissues for shipment according to storage requirements.
• Handle tissue allograft pickup and delivery when needed.
• Maintain ocular tissue inventory and rotate supplies.
• Clean, package and sterilize instruments per OR standards.
• Maintain labs and clean rooms equipment and records.

Education
