Job summary

Shipt is seeking a Staff Engineer on the Core Services team to shape the architecture of high-scale systems powering our retailer management ecosystem. You will collaborate with Principal Engineers to define long-term technical strategy, raise architectural standards, and mentor multiple squads.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development experience building and maintaining complex distributed systems in cloud environments at scale.
• Deep expertise in Golang and relational databases, advanced caching strategies, and Kafka.
• Proven ability to diagnose bottlenecks, optimize distributed architectures, and improve performance.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and technical quality for core services; lead design of highly available microservices.
• Drive scalability, performance, and reliability for mission-critical systems powering retailer management.
• Collaborate across Product, Platform, and engineering teams to align on technical direction and solution design.
• Establish observability, monitoring, and on-call practices to ensure system health.
• Lead design reviews and promote engineering best practices across teams.
• Evolve CI/CD processes and maintain a security-first mindset in design and delivery.
