Job summary

Kelly Science & Clinical seeks a Core Lab Technician for a client in north Houston, TX. The role tests geological samples to detect petroleum, gas, or mineral deposits per client protocols and reports findings to production teams.

You will prepare samples, operate and maintain laboratory equipment, and handle daily tasks to meet production requirements, with occasional overtime. Requires a geology or science degree and 0–2 years lab experience; must lift 30 pounds and use basic computer tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a science discipline or equivalent lab experience.
• 0-2 years’ experience with high pressure/high temperature lab testing preferred.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and operate laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities

Core Lab Technician
Location: Houston, TX
Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (occasional OT and weekends)
Pay rate:$23-28 per hour depending on experience

Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a Core Lab Technicianfor one of our clients, an oil field services company, located in north Houston, TX.

The purpose of the Core Lab Technician role is to test and analyze geological samples to detect presence of petroleum, gas, or mineral deposits indicating potential for exploration and/or production per customer requirements and protocol. The position is responsible for preparing samples, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring timely completion of daily tasks and production requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Test and analyze samples to determine their characteristics, using laboratory apparatus and testing equipment by using established industry protocols.
• Prepare solid and fluid samples for analysis.
• Assemble, operate, and maintain laboratory testing, measuring, and mechanical equipment.
• Compile and record testing and operational data for review and further analysis.
• Adjust and repair testing, electrical, and mechanical equipment and devices.
• Review test and operational data for initial Quality Control after completing an established training period
• Perform daily tasks in a timely manner.
• Meet all daily and monthly production requirements.
• Comply with the company’s training and requirements.
• Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.
• Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.

Education and Skills Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or other science discipline or previous laboratory experience
• 0-2 years’ experience with high pressure and high temperature laboratory testing preferred
• Ability to lift 30 pounds
• General mechanical aptitude
• Basic knowledge of computer systems. Microsoft office, special Excel and Word
• Ability to verbally communicate well with all levels of employee
• Must be able to follow written protocols
