Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Des Moines is seeking a Med Technologist for our Core Lab. You will act as a technical information resource for MercyOne Des Moines Laboratory, identifying problems that may affect test performance and using knowledge and judgment to troubleshoot and resolve them with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or in Chemistry, Biology or related field.
• One-year clinical internship in NAACLS accredited clinical laboratory science program or approved alternate path that meets certification eligibility requirements.
• Certification in MLS/MT (ASCP) or MT (AMT) or MT (AAB).
• Eligible to take certification exam within six months of hire.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Identifies problems that may affect test performance and resolves them using knowledge and judgment.
• Acts as technical information resource for MercyOne Des Moines Laboratory.
• Operates LIS, laboratory information systems, and instrument-related software.
• Trains new employees and serves as preceptor for students.
• Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
