Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Laboratory is hiring a Med Technologist for the evening shift in a full-time role with relocation eligibility depending on location. You will troubleshoot issues with specimens, instruments, and methods, and may serve as charge technologist, performing department tasks with minimal supervision.

Candidates need a Bachelor's in Medical Technology or related field, a NAACLS internship or equivalent, and certification (MLS/MT ASCP or MT AMT/AAB) with exam eligibility within six

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or in Chemistry, Biology or related field.
• One-year clinical internship in NAACLS accredited program or approved alternate path.
• Certification in MLS/MT (ASCP) or MT (AMT/AAB); eligible to sit for exam within six months of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter abuse training completed within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot issues related to specimen quality, instrument performance, and analytical interferences to ensure accurate results.
• Organize work to meet deadlines and maintain supply inventories.
• Train new employees and act as preceptor for laboratory students.
• Operate laboratory information systems and instrument-related software; provide customer service.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Chemistry/Biology or related field
