Job summary

MoDOT’s Central Office in Jefferson City seeks a core drill assistant to drive trucks, set up drilling equipment, and collect soil samples for geotechnical work. Work is performed under direct supervision and involves statewide travel.

The position features a CAREER-LADDER path with promotion opportunities from entry to intermediate or senior levels without competitive interviews, as you gain skills and experience in the field. Lodging and meals during travel are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDL written exam required before hire date; Class A with tanker endorsement and interstate status within 60 days.
• OSHA 10-Hour certification required within 90 days.
• Medical-physical exam and work exam required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and services tools and equipment.
• Transports equipment and supplies within the state to drilling locations.
• Collects soil and rock samples with geotechnical staff.
• Operates auger/pavement drill to obtain soil/pavement samples.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
