Job description

Our Content Design Team is seeking a Brand & Design Guidelines Writer to create and maintain internal and external-facing Production Design Guidelines that support content creation across our Services, including Music, Podcasts, Books, and TV.

The Brand Writer will work closely with the Content Design Production Team, creating design resources and product documents for internal and external partners. They will collaborate with design leads, program managers, and other creatives to develop and maintain a common language for production design guidelines across our Services.

Responsibilities include establishing strategic direction and brand voice, writing and editing design documentation and instructions, and finding new ways to convey technical information through the voice of the brand for audiences of varying levels of skill. This role will leverage accessible and inclusive language to create clear and engaging content for a variety of formats, including copywriting for internal documentation, external web resources, and scriptwriting for instructional videos.

The role requires a strong facility with style, grammar, tone, and voice, and the ability to apply those tools to shape and sharpen the brand's voice in every detail. The work will require detailed engagement and the ability to quickly spot errors and inconsistencies. The candidate must be able to balance multiple projects simultaneously and work collaboratively to iterate towards perfection. Strong communication skills, diplomacy, organization, and the ability to synthesize cross-functional details are essential. The goal is to deliver compelling, approachable content that captures the bigger picture.

Key Qualifications
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Highly skilled copywriter and scriptwriter capable of distilling complex ideas into clear, compelling messaging.
  • Extremely precise and agile with language, with a delight in nuance.
  • Extensive brand-writing experience, with a track record of developing and evolving brand voice.
  • Understanding of design and experience creating and implementing design guidance, instructional materials, or brand style guides. Ability to translate technical details into approachable instructions.
  • Expertise in storytelling structure across various formats, ensuring clarity and impact.
  • Ability to write for diverse audiences, from beginners to professionals.
  • Strategic thinker who can help define directions and see the big picture.
  • Strong collaboration skills in cross-functional teams, with excellent organizational and project management abilities. Adaptive problem-solver capable of handling multiple projects.
  • Experience creating clear and compelling deck narratives for stakeholders and flexibility across different media types.
