Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a field requiring significant writing and research or 3+ years related experience.
• Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with initiative.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with AP style and correct grammar.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat (3+ years).
• Experience writing and editing articles in journalism or public relations styles.
• Experience writing in various voices and tones for different audiences.
• Diplomacy, confidentiality, and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Copyedit print and digital materials to align with AP style and William & Mary brand guidelines.
• Verify names in the CRM and perform data fact checks as needed.
• Explain edits and justify wording choices in discussions with colleagues and supervisors.
• Create written materials for donors, alumni, and university communications across channels.
• Support University Marketing in events and editorial needs.
