The Pitt News Copy Editor

The Pitt News is seeking detail-oriented students to join the newspaper’s copy desk as Copy Editors .

Copy Editors play an essential role in maintaining the accuracy, clarity, and quality of The Pitt News’ content. Before publication, Copy Editors carefully review articles, columns, and other written materials for grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, factual accuracy, and adherence to AP style.

As a member of the copy desk, you will review content across the newspaper, identify and correct grammatical and stylistic issues, improve unclear or awkward wording, and ensure factual claims are appropriately supported by credible sources. Copy Editors work closely with other members of The Pitt News staff to uphold consistent editorial standards and ensure content is polished and publication-ready.

This position is ideal for students with strong attention to detail, excellent written communication skills, and an interest in journalism, editing, or professional writing.
