Job summary

Electric Machinery Company, a division of WEG Electric Corp., Minneapolis, MN, is seeking a Welder for 1st shift to set up, fabricate and weld complex parts using GTAW, FCAW and GMAW. This role focuses on copper welding for motors and generators, demanding precision and adherence to ISO 9001 and OSHA guidelines.

The candidate typically holds 1–2 years of welding training or a HS diploma with 3+ years of welding experience, can read blueprints, and may obtain crane and forklift certifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years welding program or 3+ years related experience.
• Must pass FCAW 3G and GMAW-SC 2G weld tests.
• Experience welding copper or non-ferrous materials preferred.
• Read blueprints and perform basic math for layouts.
• Inspect welds to engineering specs and tolerances.
• Be certified or certify-able in crane and forklift operation.

Responsibilities

• Set up and fabricate components using GTAW, FCAW and GMAW.
• Perform flat copper GTAW welding on bus bars and copper parts.
• Prepare copper materials and ensure weld quality and conductivity.
• Inspect welds for penetration and dimensional accuracy.
• Read drawings and determine welding specifications.
• Layout and set up work using proper tools and equipment.
• Self-inspect and document welded components.
• Support continuous improvement and safety standards.
