Job summary

Marshall University’s Office of Career Education is seeking a Coordinator for Virtual Career Development. This role focuses on helping students and alumni develop career readiness skills through innovative, accessible experiences in both virtual and on-campus formats at MU.

You will collaborate across departments, support career education programs, and occasionally lead evening/weekend events. A Master’s in relevant fields and higher education experience are preferred, with proficiency in common

  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Higher Education, or related fields.
  • One year of higher education experience in career development or related fields.
  • Proficiency with Handshake, Navigate, Blackboard, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Support retention, graduation, and career success of Marshall University students and alumni through holistic career education services.
  • Focus on career readiness, virtual learning, and development of professional competencies.
  • Collaborate across the university to advance strategic initiatives that enhance student engagement in both virtual and in-person environments.
  • Report to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Student Engagement and be based on campus.
  • Occasional evening and weekend programming and use of multiple service delivery modalities (virtual and in-person).

The Coordinator for Virtual Career Development is an integral member of the Office of Career Education (OCE). OCE supports the retention, graduation, and career success of Marshall University undergraduate and graduate students and alumni by providing holistic, inclusive, and impactful career education services and programs.


This position focuses on the career and professional development of students, with an emphasis on career readiness, virtual learning, and the development of professional competencies through innovative and accessible educational experiences.


The Coordinator collaborates across the university to advance strategic initiatives that enhance student engagement and career success in both virtual and in-person environments. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Student Engagement and is based on campus.


The role may require occasional evening and weekend programming and the use of multiple service delivery modalities, including virtual and in-person formats.


Salary Range $44,918-$58,939 - Salary is commensurate with education, experience and internal equity Salary Type Salary Time Type Full-Time Work Location MU - Marshall University

Education



  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Human Resource Development, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Student Development, Social Work, Counseling, Workforce Development, or related fields.


Experience


  • One year of higher education experience in career development, instructional design, counseling, human services, or other related fields.

  • Proficiency in the use of technology, e.g., Handshake, Navigate, Blackboard, and MS Office software.


Preferred Qualifications

Education Experience



  • Strong presentation skills with experience creating and conducting in-person and virtual presentations, workshops, or small groups tailored to specific audiences.

  • Experience advising, coaching, or counseling students pursuing competitive majors and career goals.
