The coordinator will report to the Supervisor of Quality Assurance, manage multiple tasks, and provide documented findings to QA and operations leadership while promoting strong safety practices.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
  • 1+ year of experience locating underground utilities.
  • 2+ years of experience locating underground utilities preferred.
  • Understanding of utility locating procedures and marking standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot locate issues and interpret utility plats.
  • Strong coaching and mentorship abilities for technicians.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and related software for the role.
  • Flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls.
  • Ability to carry locating equipment and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Operations to identify damage prevention opportunities.
  • Identify at-risk Field Technicians needing training.
  • Perform field audits for accuracy of marks and compliance with laws.
  • Correct field risk findings and coach technicians.
  • Provide feedback to Field Check partners to improve quality and reduce damages.
  • Communicate audit findings to QA and operations management both verbally and in writing.
  • Balance multiple duties while meeting daily productivity and deadlines.
  • Provide witness testimony in small claims and litigated cases when needed.
  • Promote safety culture and maintain quality standards.
  • Maintain relationships with clients, excavators, regulators, employees, and the public.
  • Operate company vehicles safely and presentably.
  • Support hands-on utility locate training and education.
  • Stay current on learning methodologies and technologies.
  • Ticket production and weekend work may be required.
  • Complete other duties as needed.

Our Coordinator Quality Assurance plays a critical role in supporting our Operations partners in damage prevention and quality assurance initiatives. The Coordinator Quality Assurance reports directly to the Supervisor of Quality Assurance. In this role, the ideal candidate will be highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, while focusing on quality and integrity in the Damage Investigation process. The Coordinator Quality Assurance objectively investigates utility damages and communicates findings to management. The Coordinator Quality Assurance improves quality in assigned areas by identifying and addressing field quality deficiencies resulting in fewer damages.

What you’ll do
  • Collaborate with Operations partners to identify potential opportunities for damage prevention through the field audit process.
  • Identify at-risk Field Technicians who need additional training to prevent potential for damages.
  • Perform field audits for accuracy of marks and compliance with applicable state laws, regulations, and contractual obligations per client.
  • Correct the field risk findings and coach/mentor technicians.
  • Provide frequent and ongoing feedback to Field Check partners to improve quality results, reduce damages and ensure audit requests are being submitted with proper documentation.
  • Communicate audit and investigation findings with quality assurance and operations management, both verbally & in written format.
  • Effectively balance various job responsibilities while meeting daily productivity & efficiency standards, and completion deadlines.
  • Provide witness testimony in small claims and litigated cases when necessary.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture and ensure quality standards are being met.
  • Promote a good working relationship with clients, excavators, regulators, employees, and the public.
  • Operate company vehicles in a safe manner and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Will support hands‑on utility locate training and education in Damage Prevention
  • Remain current on existing and emerging learning methodologies and technologies
  • Ticket production and weekend work may be required, as needed
  • Completes other duties, as needed
What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency
  • One (1) or more years of experience locating underground utilities and/or combination of related experience required
  • Two (2) or more years of experience locating underground utilities and/or combination of related experience preferred
  • Thorough understanding of utility locating procedures, marking standards and proficiency with locate equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot difficult locates and proficiently interpret all utility plats.
  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately coach and mentor technicians.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to understand problems, analyze facts and anticipate results to make decisions based on available information and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals at all levels and areas within the organization
  • Proficiency in computer based technology and ability to learn new systems & software related to the role.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Respond to emergency calls, as needed.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools and equipment. (shovels, screw drivers, wrenches, and ped keys etc.)
  • Ability to carry 3-5 lb electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time; lifting objects up to 50 pounds or lifting in excess of 50 lbs with toolaids.
Physical abilities & exposures
  • Completes and maintains all training
  • Drive safely and follow company safe driving policies
  • Maintain punctuality and attendance at all shifts and training sessions
  • Perform work in all weather conditions, during normal and after hours
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipment and tools
  • Reaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally; bending at the waist; standing and or walking for extended periods of time
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

The wage range for Coordinator Quality Assurance is $22.00 - $26.00.
