Title: Coordinator of Student Well-Being
Position Purpose:

The Coordinator of Student Well-Being oversees the development,implementation, and assessment of health education programmingincluding peer to peer health promotion and campus wide Well-Beinginitiatives. The Coordinator is responsible for supporting the workof the Integrated Well-Being Team throughout the studentexperience. The Coordinator of Student Well-Being also supports case managementfor students experiencing complex challenges. The primaryresponsibility of the Coordinator will be providing clinical casemanagement for students with complex health concerns. A secondaryfocus of case management responsibilities for the role is providingsupport for students with psychiatric concerns and/or generalizedcase management needs. Case management is an important aspect ofsupporting student Well-Being.

Job Duties:
Student Well-Being Support:
  • Support the work of the Integrated Well-Being Team bydeveloping and implementing programming, completing administrativetasks, and supporting student leadership around Well-Beinginitiatives.
  • Manage integration of best practices in social justice,identity support and development, universal design, and otherinclusive practices into all aspects of community-based work.
  • Train and manage campus partners to provide support to studentinterest groups (student clubs and organizations, teams, etc.) todevelop unique training and programming opportunities related tohealth promotion, well-being, and violence prevention.
  • Facilitate mission and activities of Integrated Well-Being Teamto support development of proactive measures to support healthpromoting behaviors.
  • Manage partnerships including Bates Health Services, Departmentof Athletics, and Counseling & Psychological Services to createnew opportunities for active and passive programming around topicsrelated to health promotion, well-being, and violenceprevention.
  • Conduct and implement annual education and data collectionmodules including Healthy Bates 101 & 102, Campus PathwaysStudy, and similar programs.
  • Develop and implement training modules for professional staffin residence life to facilitate ongoing learning about well-beingsupport, health promotion and violence prevention practices forstudents and communities.
  • Oversee assessment practices for all health education programsand initiatives.
  • Supervises shared inboxes and communication platforms torespond to questions and concerns.
  • Lives in a designated on-campus apartment.
Case Management:
  • Supports the Director of Health Services and Student Well-Beingto provide case management to students with complex needs,including medical case management needs.
  • Provide medical/psychiatric case management and general casemanagement, to ensure the case population has adequate access tosupport services.
  • Communicates with students and concerned parents, whenappropriate, to resolve issues of concern related to work as a casemanager, and/or discuss care plans.
  • Responds in the moment to students in distress who need supportconnecting to additional resources.
  • Protects student/patient confidentiality and confidentiality ofmedical records.
  • As needed, advises and councils students who experience asubstance use hospital transport to coordinate care, provideeducation, and provide support.
  • Assures equity, inclusion, access, and anti-racism as centralto their work in the delivery of healthcare services tostudents.
  • Assists the Director of Health Services and Student Well-Beingto support students in navigating health insurance and billingissues as well as other concerns accessing specialized careresources.
  • Assist the Director of Health Services and Student Well-Beingto complete review and follow up on entering student health forms,and AESOP health forms.
Student Affairs Support:
  • Serve as Green Dot Trainer.
  • Participate in team projects that enhance the quality orefficiency of Student Affairs.
  • Participate in Senior Week, Commencement, Winter Carnival, andother campus wide events including events, protests, and crisissupport, to provide support and student supervision as needed.
  • Support the Director in other projects related to operations,student well-being, and case management.
  • Participate in national and regional professional developmentopportunities to ensure the implementation and assessment of bestpractices related to student well-being.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree preferred
Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in residence life, health promotion,public health, social work, case management, or other area ofhigher education (including professional, graduate and/orundergraduate experience in residence life, student government,student activities, student or outdoor leadership positions, othercampus offices, etc.)
  • Demonstrated success in supporting students fromunderrepresented groups, including students from historicallyunderrepresented racial and ethnic groups,first-generation-to-college students, LGBTQ+ identifiedindividuals, and low-income students.
  • Experience working in collaborative and dynamic officeenvironments with frequently shifting tasks and priorities.
  • Experience in supporting success of peer to peer educationalmodels including implementation of assessment practices.
  • Experience supporting young adults and their families in thetransition to a residential college environment.
  • Experience in case management, care coordination, motivationalinterviewing and supporting students towards implementing andmaintaining healthy behaviors.
  • Training and experience in facilitating mediation, conflictresolution and other restorative practices processes.
Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong organizational, tracking, and assessment skillsincluding proficiency in basic data management systems and basiccomputer software (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel, Power Point,WordPress [website], Google docs, email and calendaring.)
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to adapt andexplore multiple avenues to a solution.

Hiring Range:

The hiring range for this position is $45,350to $50,000. Placement within the range depends on experience andother factors.
