Job summary

Pilgrim’s is seeking a Coordinator of Operational Excellence to lead process improvement projects at a Processing Plant and Live Operations complex. You will partner with safety, HR, quality, engineering and operations to drive measurable efficiency and cost reductions.

Undergraduate degree, 2–5 years manufacturing experience (poultry preferred), willingness to relocate and travel, and strong analytical/Excel skills are required to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science, or Business preferred.
  • 2–5 years in manufacturing (poultry preferred).
  • At least 1 year in Pilgrim’s.
  • Background in ZBB or production.
  • Willingness to relocate and travel to other Pilgrim’s locations.
  • Ability to work varying shifts as needed.
  • Desire for career growth within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Lives and reinforces Safety as a condition in all activities.
  • Leads Management Method efforts as a business partner with Pillar owners.
  • Identify and assess KPI gaps; lead continuous improvement projects.
  • Develop and manage process improvements for efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Co-own the Management Pillar implementation; train personnel and improve materials.
  • Maintain core tools: 6S, SOPs, SPC, RCA, Kaizen, Labor Management.
  • Update and analyze key metrics for the complex.
  • Lead self-assessment activities for Management Method.
  • Train process owners in continuous improvement and control.

COORDINATOR OF OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for directing projects and initiatives at a Processing Plant and Live Operations across a Complex of the Company. Working closely with the operations teams as well as Support departments including but not limited to safety, human resources, food safety and quality assurance, engineering, plant operations personnel, live operations and upper management.

Responsibility:
  • Lives and reinforces Safety as a condition in all activities
  • Leads assigned facility’s Management Method efforts by functioning as a business partner with each Pillar owner.
  • Responsible for proactively working with facility management to identify and assess KPI gaps, and lead continuous improvement projects using Operational Excellence methodologies.
  • Develop and manage process improvements for achieving measurable efficiency, cost reduction, variation reduction, flow optimization or performance improvement gains.
  • Co-own the Management Pillar implementation by teaching all its tools, training personnel, serving as support and continuously improving the material to support the location.
  • Demonstrates ownership of core tools:
    • 6S
    • Writing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures
    • Statistical Process Control
    • Root Cause Analysis
    • Kaizen Events
    • Labor Management
  • Update and analyze key metrics for the assigned complex or business unit.
  • Leads self-assessment activities for Management Method.
  • Develop and train process owners with methods for continuous improvement and control as new processes are implemented.
  • Support with working knowledge of labor standards principles, time studies and labor reports, and facilitate the sharing of best practices throughout the company network.
  • In conjunction with the other members of the Operational Excellence management team, participate of meetings as required.
Education:

Undergraduate Degree, (Prefer Engineering, Science, or Business focus)

Experience:
  • 2 - 5 years manufacturing industry experience (preferably in poultry)
  • At least 1 year in Pilgrim’s
  • Background in ZBB or production
  • Willingness to relocate.
  • Availability to travel to learn and/or support in other Pilgrim’s locations.
  • Ability to work any hours as needed, flexible to work various shifts.
  • Desire for career advancement and growth within the organization, while maintaining commitment to the Vision and Values.
