Job summary

Penn College seeks an Assistant Director of Athletics Communications to support intercollegiate programs, manage news, scores, statistics and media relations on a 211‑day calendar. The role reports to the Assistant Director of Athletics Communications and collaborates across sports and departments.

Responsibilities include writing press releases, maintaining statistics, updating the athletics website, and coordinating social media and webcasting for all sports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline. Required
  • Master's degree in related discipline. Preferred
  • 1-3 years' NCAA athletic/recreational program experience. Required
  • Evidence of creativity and ingenuity in developing programs. Required
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Required
  • Self-starter. Required
  • Strong writing, editing, communication, and organizational skills. Required
  • Ability to manage multiple sports, projects, deadlines, and responsibilities simultaneously. Required
  • Experience with website CMS and social media platforms. Required
  • Possession of a valid driver's license. Required
  • Familiarity with data processing and statistical procedures. Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Assistant Director of Athletics Communications as a source of information for selected intercollegiate programs including news, scores, statistics, and other information to media outlets and conference offices.
  • Assist in writing press releases, including post-game recaps, award announcements, season previews for pctwildcats.com.
  • Assist in maintaining in-game and season statistics.
  • Assist in compiling and submitting statistics and team results in accordance with NCAA and conference guidelines.
  • Assist in updating and maintaining athletics website and historical archives/record books.
  • Assist with management of department social media platforms and webcasting.
  • Assist with the creation of photo and video content for digital and social platforms.
  • Assist in the production of electronic/printed content to promote the department's athletics programs, student-athletes, home events, fundraising, and community service initiatives.
  • Assist in the nomination process for weekly and yearly athletic and academic awards.
  • Collaborate on marketing and promotional initiatives for intercollegiate athletics.
  • Ensure safety and security at all events, communicating concerns to College Police and the Director of Athletics

Overview

This person will assist the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications in all aspects of Athletic Communications for the department, specifically focusing on intercollegiate athletics. This position will follow a 211-Day Calendar.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Recreational Education, Health, Sports Administration, Communication, Journalism or other related discipline. Required
  • Master's Degree in Sports Administration, Communication, Journalism or related discipline. Preferred
Experience

EXPERIENCE

  • 1-3 years' experience in an NCAA athletic/recreational program with a background in sports information/journalism. Required

Pay Transparency

Based on minimum education and experience qualifications the yearly salary range is $43,000 - $48,000.
