Job summary

Towson University is seeking a dedicated supervisor for NSFP student leader functions. You will recruit, train, and mentor undergraduate student staff such as Orientation Leaders and First Year Experience Leaders, while developing curricula and training for advanced student leaders.

You will oversee recruitment, selection, and training of returning staff and interns, and contribute to the planning of Welcome to TU and the 4-day orientation and Family Weekend programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • One year of relevant experience.
  • Program/event management and public speaking skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Master's degree in higher education, counseling or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience with student orientation, transfer programs, academic advising, and/or undergraduate admission preferred.

Job description

Responsibilities and Duties


  • Provide leadership, direction, and coordination for all student leader functions in the NSFP area. This person will recruit, train, supervise, advise, and mentor undergraduate student staff including but not limited to Orientation Leaders and First Year Experience Leaders.

  • Develop curriculum and training for advanced student leaders. Responsible for the planning and implementation of the Undergraduate Intern and returning student staff member programs.

  • Oversee the recruitment, selection, supervision and training of returning staff members, in addition to managing the recruitment, training and direct supervision of two undergraduate interns.

  • Support the planning and execution of the one-day student and family orientation programs, Welcome to TU, and the 4-day orientation prior to the start of the semester. This includes curriculum design, collaboration with campus partners, specifically in Undergraduate Admissions and Academic Advising, assessment, and program logistics.

  • Participate in the planning and execution of Family Weekend.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


The work hours for this position will include evenings and weekends on an occasional basis.


Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.
