Job summary

Dallas Independent School District is seeking a Coordinator I - Bond (226 Days) to support Bond/Construction Services and the Bond Marketing team in communicating district bond initiatives. You will write and edit articles, press materials, and social posts while tracking project progress and coordinating events.

The role requires preparing talking points for district leaders and attending community meetings, with occasional evenings/weekends. Strong writing and project management are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in journalism, public relations or communications.
  • 3-5 years of experience in School public relations, communications, employing social media marketing strategies, and project management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience using AP style.
  • Demonstrated ability to write effective articles, news releases, talking points and copy for web, brochures and other printed matter to inform the public about district programs.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects and deadlines with experience managing high-quality special events executed on time, within budget and in a manner that reflects positively on the district.
  • Self-motivator with ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with the ability to work with top level staff and handle information of a confidential and sensitive nature.

Responsibilities

  • The Bond Communications Coordinator will work closely with the district's Bond Marketing team to support Bond/Construction Services as they work to transform the landscape of urban education.
  • Must be available to attend community meetings in the evenings and occasional weekend meetings.
  • Write articles, news releases, media advisories, social media content and website copy that promote public understanding of the district’s commitment to fund, build, and renovate schools and other facilities necessary to educate students for success.
  • Track the progress of bond projects to ensure district leaders, principals, and key communicators are kept abreast of the progress of bond projects and invited to participate and attend bond-related events as appropriate.
  • Produce content for electronic and print collateral materials for bond meetings and events and coordinate production and distribution of materials.
  • Work with Bond/Construction Services, project managers, the district’s board of trustees, principals and contractors to plan and implement groundbreakings, ribbon-cuttings and dedications that engage the public in celebrating bond-funded construction projects.
  • Support operations of the district’s Bond Advisory Committee; attend quarterly meetings and record and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Write talking points for trustees and district leaders to communicate the district’s ongoing commitment to create and maintain high-quality academic facilities equipped to meet the needs of 21st century learners.
  • Collaborate with Bond Marketing and Bond/Construction Services to coordinate communication, events, and publicity related to district bond programs to keep the community abreast of the progress of construction projects.
