Job summary

Mile High United Way is seeking a Coordinator, Human Resources to handle day-to-day HR operations, onboarding/offboarding, and administrative tasks. The role emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace and communities served.

The position is non-exempt, full-time, based primarily in Denver with a hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote). Experience in HRIS and payroll processes is valued, along with strong communication and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or related field preferred.
  • 1–2 years of administrative, customer service, or HR experience preferred.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support recruiting: post/close positions, screen applicants, coordinate interviews, conduct background checks, and assist with new hire communications.
  • Assist onboarding/offboarding and document coordination.
  • Maintain accurate employee data in Paycom and assist with HRIS reports and org charts.
  • Maintain organized files for employee benefits, retirement, and department records with confidential handling.
  • Provide administrative support for leave, accommodations, workers' comp, and HR communications.

Status:Non-Exempt, Full-Time
Salary: $25.38 - 27.78 per hour

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected hourly pay rate for this position is $25.38 - $27.78 ($52,790.40 - $57,782.40 annualized). In an effort to increase equity and to avoid unfair bias historically associated with salary negotiations, we do not participate in salary negotiations outside of this stated starting salary range.

How You'll Help

The Coordinator, Human Resources serves the organization and its employees by performing administrative tasks and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the human resources department. The Coordinator will oversee a wide range of support including compiling and updating accurate employee records, coordinating meetings, assisting with onboarding and offboarding, and clerical administration. The Coordinator must demonstrate and support a culture of belonging, with an ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Support the recruiting process by posting and closing positions, assisting with application screening and phone screens, coordinating interviews, conducting background checks, and supporting candidate communications and new hire activities.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including coordination of required documentation, meetings, and administrative tasks.
  • Enter and maintain accurate employee information in Paycom and assist with standard HRIS reports, data requests, organizational charts, and other employee records.
  • Maintain organized employee, benefits, retirement, and department files in accordance with established retention and confidentiality requirements, including coordination of offsite file storage.
  • Provide administrative support for leave, accommodation, workers' compensation, and other employee-related processes by tracking requests, maintaining documentation, and escalating matters to HR leadership as appropriate.
  • Assist with routine HR compliance activities, audits, and required documentation under the direction of HR leadership.
  • Monitor the HR inbox, respond to routine employee inquiries, and assist with HR communications, including new hire announcements, staff changes, payroll reminders, and other department communications.
  • Support employee engagement, culture and belonging initiatives, committees, events, and employee lifecycle activities such as goal setting and performance management.
  • Provide administrative support for payroll processing, the annual 401(k) audit, department projects, recurring HR activities, and other operational needs under the direction of HR leadership.
  • Assist with maintaining department procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need: Education, Experience, and Skills
  • High school diploma, GED, or business certificate required
  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or a related field preferred
  • 1-2 years of prior administrative, customer service, or human resources experience preferred
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification is a plus

Computer Skills:
  • Office 365 Suite, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Human Resource Information System (HRIS) experience, including report management and data integrity. Paycom and ApplicantPro experience a plus
Working Environment:

Typical office environment.

Physical Activities:

Ability to operate a computer for extended periods. May be required to lift 20lbs.
