Job Summary

This role is responsible for overseeing the administration of theTarrant County College District (TCCD) district-wide landscapeirrigation program to ensure it meets all applicable requirementsand maximizes water use, particularly during drought periods.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements*

• Reviews and approves the installation, expansion, upgrades andmaintenance of all TCCD landscape irrigation systems, includingcampus and district central irrigation control systems, to ensurecompliance with federal, state and local laws, regulations, codesand guidelines
• Ensures the development, accuracy, and maintenance of recorddrawings for all existing and newly installed irrigationsystems
• Develops and implements irrigation schedules for all campusesutilizing weather data and site-specific factors, includingterrain, soil conditions, and landscape materials, to ensureefficient water management and plant health
• Collects and maintains seasonal weather data for each campus andsite and continuously monitors district-wide irrigation systemoperations to ensure efficient water use, optimal systemperformance, and the health of landscaped areas
• Monitors irrigation system operations to ensure compliance withdistrict standards and demonstrates the District’s commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible water conservation,particularly during drought conditions
• Identifies opportunities to enhance the efficiency andeffectiveness of irrigation system operations and maintenance andprepares budget packages and funding requests for landscapingprojects and services across all campuses, as needed
• Monitors the physical condition and operational performance ofirrigation systems and recommends repairs, upgrades, or replacementprojects to ensure reliable, efficient, and sustainableoperation
• Participates in ongoing safety training programs covering theprocedures, equipment, and work practices necessary to safelyperform operational and maintenance activities

Service Excellence

• Participates on behalf of the College in external communityorganizations and associations as assigned to support the essentialperformance requirements
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, andfollows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of theworksite

Required Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Irrigation Association Landscape Irrigation AuditorCertification
• At least one (1) year’s working experience using irrigationdesign software to evaluate, and optimize irrigation systems andrelated infrastructure
• At least one (1) year’s working experience managing irrigationsystems across multiple locations, including identifying,recommending, and implementing improvements that enhanceoperational efficiency, water conservation, and systemreliability

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of irrigation system installation, operation,maintenance, and repair, including water management principles,system optimization, and preventative maintenance practices
• Skilled in delivering high-quality customer service and buildingeffective interpersonal relationships, including strong listening,verbal, and written communication skills
• Skilled in using computer applications and enterprise systems,including the Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft 365 platform, andSmartsheet
