Job summary

Treasure Valley Family YMCA is hiring a Child Development Coordinator in Wilder, ID to create a friendly, safe environment and supervise staff while guiding program development and engagement activities for afterschool programs.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and commitment to our values. This is a 40-hour per week position with afternoon/evening shifts and administrative duties.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Associate degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years working with children.
  • Minimum 1 year management experience is preferred.
  • Excellent human relations skills and communication abilities.
  • Ability to address emergencies and make solid decisions.
  • Experience supervising staff and volunteers preferred.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills; professional and articulate.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Director to ensure Department operations are consistent with Leading Practices, including licensing requirements and policies.
  • Supervise Child Development staff, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, scheduling, and development.
  • Recruit and manage volunteers as needed per current policies and guidelines.
  • Provide leadership through planning, organizing, supervising and facilitating children in age-appropriate curriculum-based experiences.
  • Engage participants and parents to deepen relationships with the Y cause.
  • Participate in team meetings and committees as assigned.
  • Manage staff meetings to keep staff informed of offerings and changes.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.

Our Wilder Y Kids in Wilder, ID is hiring for aChild Development Coordinator. This position is responsible for creating a friendly, helpful, positive atmosphere for everyone who enters the Y program through supervising assigned staff and managing program development, safety and engagement activities. At the Y, we believe every child is of promise and deserves the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. The Treasure Valley Family YMCA’s Child Development programs support children in their ongoing growth to ensure that they are ready for the next educational milestone, whether that be preschool, kindergarten, middle school, or high school.

Schedule:

This is a full-time position at 40 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are 8-hour days with 2:30pm-6:15pm required for in-ratio for the afterschool program. This is for Monday through Thursday. The remainder of the time will be required administrative time and/or scheduled meetings, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Child Development staff, including hiring, onboarding, role-modeling, coaching, scheduling, and on-going development.
  • Recruits and manages volunteers as needed per current Volunteer Policies and Guidelines.
  • Provide leadership through planning, organizing, supervising and facilitating children in a variety of age-appropriate curriculum-based experiences.
  • Engage participants and parents to deepen their relationships in the Y cause.
  • Actively participates in team meetings and committees as assigned.
  • Manage staff meetings to keep staff advised and informed of all program offerings, class scheduling, participant changes, policies, etc.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Associate degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years working with children.
  • Minimum 1 year management experience is preferred
  • Excellent human relations skills and an ability to maintain position communication with staff and members.
  • Ability to address and make solid decision in emergency situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including telephone etiquette and computer use.
  • Prior experience supervision of staff and volunteers preferred.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
REQUIRED LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
  • Boise City and/or Idaho State Child Care License – Prerequisite upon hire – 14-day compliance period.
  • Pediatric CPR/AED. Prerequisite upon hire – 14-day compliance period.
  • First Aid. Prerequisite upon hire – 14-day compliance period.
  • YUSA Team Leader Certification recommended.
