Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience with data in relational databases and ability to manipulate data in Excel; familiarity with Raiser's Edge or Raiser's Edge NXT is preferred.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail; ability to draft donor communications.
  • Experience in a large-scale national fundraising program.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, able to work independently and in a team, and professional in demeanor.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; comfortable with SharePoint, Canva, and Asana.

Responsibilities

  • Donor Stewardship: produce and track acknowledgments, receipts, and communications for donors; review data uploadsweekly; write personalized donor correspondences.
  • Event Support: assist with event registrations, nametags, invitations, and related materials.
  • Writing & Creative Support: assist with light writing and design projects; proofreading and ensuring consistency across projects.
  • Administrative Support: manage scheduling, travel, inbox, donor records, data entry, reporting, and process improvements; coordinate donor gifts.

Coordinator, Campaign and Donor Engagement

Full Time Washington, DC, US

Salary Range: $62,000.00 To $68,000.00 Annually

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Campaign and Donor Engagement, the Coordinator, Campaign and Donor Engagement is essential to a broader donor engagement team working to create an outstanding experience for donors to the National Park Foundation. The Coordinator is responsible for producing timely, accurate, and thoughtful acknowledgments and receipts and assisting in developing and delivering donor cultivation and stewardship communications and activities.

Essential Functions/Duties/Tasks:

  • Donor Stewardship (40%)
    • Produce and ensure timely mailing and accurate tracking of acknowledgment letters, welcome packets, and receipts for midlevel, major, and principal gift donors and other special audiences.
    • Review, clean up, and submit data upload files for receipts and acknowledgments every week.
    • Using templates as a guide, prepare donor correspondence and write thoughtful, personalized acknowledgments for major and principal gift donors and other special audiences.
    • Coordinate and support the creation and distribution of donor communications, including specialized stewardship touches for principal and major gift donors and other special audiences.
    • Track and prepare major gift pledge reminders; coordinate with relationship managers to ensure delivery as appropriate.
    • Manage, purchase, and oversee fulfillment and distribution of America The Beautiful Federal Land Passes to qualified donors.
  • Event Support (20%)
    • Act as secondary/backup contact for event registrations/RSVPs.
    • Print nametags, place cards, escort cards, and other materials for events.
    • Assist in preparing and mailing formal invitations for engagement events.
  • Writing and creative support (20%)
    • Assist the Senior Director and other team members with light writing and design projects.
    • Help with proofreading and ensuring consistency for projects.
  • Administrative Support (20%):
    • Assist with scheduling meetings and travel arrangements for the Senior Director, Director, etc.
    • Monitor and manage incoming email to general department inboxes.
    • Serve as primary database coordinator for Donor Relations and Stewardship, updating records, compiling biographical information, data entry, and generating reports and queries.
    • Identify ways to strengthen our processes to increase the efficiency, efficacy, and donor-centricity of our work.
    • Coordinate and support the distribution of donor appreciation and thank-you gifts.
    • Work collaboratively within the department and with all National Park Foundation staff members.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Experience working with data in relational databases, preferably Raiser’s Edge or Raiser’s Edge NXT. Ability to understand data structure. Manipulate the extracted data in Excel and use mail merge functions in Word.
  • Strong communication, writing, and editing skills with attention to detail; proven capabilities to draft correspondence and other written communications.
  • Experience working successfully within a large‑scale national fundraising program.
  • Self‑motivated and proactive/inquisitive, with demonstrated ability to be flexible, work independently, collaborate with others as needed, make sound decisions, and always exercise good judgment and professionalism. Shows a team attitude.
  • Self‑starter with the ability to work independently, within a team environment, and with diverse internal and donor constituencies in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated high proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Canva, Asana, etc.
  • Customer service mindset; commitment to continual improvement.
  • Demonstrate an affinity for the mission of the National Park Foundation.
  • Ability to work with diverse and multi‑disciplinary teams.

Preferred education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in philanthropy or donor relations and stewardship.

Salary Range:$62,000 - $68,000, commensurate with experience.
