Job summary

NYC Health + Hospitals is seeking a supervisory/administrative professional to lead health program operations and staff development. The role focuses on coordination between departments, training, compliance, and documentation to ensure quality patient care and efficient service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in listed health-related fields with relevant health care experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience accepted; at least a Bachelor’s degree required.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with medical and staff from other departments to plan and coordinate patient and management objectives.
  • Provide administrative supervision for a health service program.
  • Plan and conduct training programs to maintain staff proficiency.
  • Allocate staff based on workload, space and equipment.
  • Coordinate research projects and evaluate rehabilitation programs.
  • Direct processing of orders for equipment and supplies.
  • Consult with medical and nursing staff to clarify documentation and deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance policies are current and followed.
  • Supervise office administration and records keeping.
  • Oversee employee supervision and development.
  • Publish operational manuals and procedures.

  • May supervise studies and analyze system modifications.
  • May analyze patient records for documentation related to length of stay and reimbursement.

Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose of Position: This class of positions encompasses supervisory or administrative work of varying degrees of difficulty and with varying degrees of latitude for independent initiative and judgment in the delivery of health program and support services.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Consults with medical and professional staff of other departments and staff from associated health care fields to plan and coordinate joint patient and management objectives. Acts as a liaison between the Department of Medical Services and other administrative divisions.
  • Provides administrative supervision for a health service program.
  • Plans, develops, and may conduct training programs to maintain proficiency of staff and use of new equipment and methods.
  • Allocates staff on basis of workload, space, and available equipment.
  • Coordinates research projects and conducts special studies to evaluate various rehabilitative programs in the department and within the overall objective of the department.
  • Directs the processing of orders for requisitioning of equipment, prosthetic appliances, and medical supplies for patients.
  • As required, consults with medical, nursing and other staff involved in treatment to clarify ambiguities and secure documentation of the records and to secure necessary and timely certification and verification.
  • Ensures that compliance policies and procedures are current and followed.
  • Supervises the office administration and office record keeping activities of the department.
  • Is responsible for employee supervision, performance and employee development of assigned personnel in areas of responsibility and accountability.
  • Supervises the preparation and publication of operational manuals and procedures.
  • Effectively applies ICARE values: Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
  • May supervise studies related to the service/program and analyzes modifications and development of systems and procedures to improve departmental operations. Makes recommendations and implements.
  • May analyze patient records with clinical staff to determine whether they document that the length of stay and medical services rendered are consistent with reimbursement formulas, completing necessary forms.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology or Rehabilitation Counseling; and one (1) year of full-time experience in medically-oriented health care and medical support systems environment; or
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines listed in “1” above; and two(2)years of full-time experience in medically-oriented health care and medical support systems environment; or
  • A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience, in which each year of relevant training and/or experience can be substituted for 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university. However, all applicants must at least have a Bachelor’s degree.
