Job summary

RTX offers an on-site internship/co-op opportunity in Georgia focused on industrial automation, system controls, and OT networks. You will work with PLC/SCADA tools, support HMI/SCADA development, and contribute to data security and process optimization.

Ideal candidates are pursuing degrees in Industrial/Systems Engineering or CS, with exposure to Rockwell/Siemens tools, and a 3.0+ GPA. RTX values hands-on learning and collaborative problem-solving in a production setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in a related engineering or CS field.
• GPA of 3.0+ preferred.
• Experience with PLC/SCADA tooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize and solve System Controls issues with internal operations and vendors.
• Create reusable templates (alarms, OEE, downtime reasons) and basic scripting (Python/Jython for Ignition).
• Verify data collection redundancy and security for process parameters.
• Develop and improve HMI and SCADA systems (Ignition focus) for OT networks.
• Capture and maintain OT asset inventory and network topology diagrams.
• Help author, maintain, and publish SOPs and integration best practices.
• Troubleshoot servos, sensors, and control components.
• Provide analysis and develop recommendations for corrective actions.

What You Will Do

• Prioritize and solve System Controls issues with internal operations and vendors, supervised changes to PLC logic (Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal) and update tag maps/I/O documentation.
• Create reusable templates (alarms, OEE, downtime reasons) and basic scripting (e.g., Python/Jython for Ignition), following site standards.
• Verify data collection redundancy and security for process parameters
• Develop and improve HMI and SCADA systems (mostly Ignition based) to OT Networking
• Capture and maintain OT asset inventory and network topology diagrams.
• Help author, maintain, and publish standard operating procedures, engineering procedures, and integration best practices.
• Troubleshoot non-functioning components including servos, sensors, and control components
• Provide analysis and develop recommendations for corrective actions due to process failures

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and actively enrolled through the completion of the co‑op.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Prior RTX internship, co‑op or work experience
• Exposure to Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, Ignition, FactoryTalk, RSNetworks, Canary, SQL Server/Postgres.
• Experience reading NFPA/NEC references and contributing to FAT/SAT events

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
