Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer for cooling components within the Machine and Electrification Thermal Systems team in Mossville, IL. You will lead design, development, and validation of cooling systems for machinery, collaborating with cross-functional teams from concept to production.
The role emphasizes NTI development (TRL0-TRL4), FMEA leadership, and durability testing. Strong Creo modeling and APQP/NPI familiarity are highly beneficial.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering or Materials Science curriculum.
- Relevant professional experience within design, development, and/or validation.
Responsibilities
- Lead design of cooling components and systems for Caterpillar machine or stationary electrification applications.
- Engage with component and system design teams through concept, prototype and production phases to ensure robust validation plans.
- Lead NTI cooling component development (TRL0-TRL4) and stay updated on innovative cooling tech.
- Lead resolution of issues related to cooling components and systems (NPI and CPI).
- Lead component and system FMEA with design engineers and system leads.
- Investigate and develop accelerated component durability test methods.
- Provide technical guidance to component teams and communicate risks and mitigation tasks clearly.
