Share your love of cooking by leading cooking classes for children entering grades 2 - 8 during the summer. Camp Kaleidoscope, the JCC summer day camp in Newton, draws creative campers interested in the arts, science and the outdoors. Camp Counselors and activity specialists guide campers in drama, art, science, sports, swimming and much more as they develop and build self-confidence. The energy of the camp is lively, playful and warm, as both campers and staff develop lifelong friendships. JCC Greater Boston offers free bus service from various communities during the season, facilitating transportation for staff.

Primary Responsibilities Include, And Are Not Limited To
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of campers during activities
  • Create a fun/joyful dynamic
  • Work with peers and Camp Leadership to provide a memorable summer experience
  • Lead or co-lead activities
  • Prepare and manage supplies
  • Plan and implement engaging activities for children in grades K - 8
  • Support supervision during special events and large group activities

This position offers an hourly schedule from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with a starting pay of $17/hour. Benefits include access to JCC facilities, a vibrant work environment, and flexible scheduling options during the 8-week camp from June 23 to August 15.

Requirements
  • High school diploma preferred; college or certification in cooking or related field preferred
  • Experience leading cooking activities for children
  • Customer service experience preferred
