Responsibilities

  • Prepare a variety of menu items safely, efficiently, and according to recipes and production sheets.
  • Prepare multiple menu items concurrently while maintaining quality, accuracy, and food safety.
  • Work assigned production positions and stations and meet meal deadlines.
  • Follow patient diet requirements and ensure meals meet prescribed diets.
  • Maintain sanitation and food safety practices, including HACCP guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • Complete daily cleaning assignments and keep kitchen organized and safe.
  • Monitor food and supply inventory and communicate procurement needs.
  • Accurately record and maintain required food safety and production information.
  • Safely operate kitchen equipment and use knife skills proficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, coworkers, leadership, and care team.
  • Work independently when needed while contributing to a team environment.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance for PRN shifts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by departmental needs.

What You’ll Do
  • Prepare a variety of menu items safely, efficiently, and according to recipes and production sheets.

  • Complete daily cleaning assignments and maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
  • Monitor food and supply inventory and communicate procurement needs.
  • Accurately record and maintain required food safety and production information.
  • Safely operate kitchen equipment and demonstrate proficient knife and equipment skills.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, coworkers, leadership, and other members of the care team.
  • Work independently when needed while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance for scheduled PRN shifts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on departmental needs.
What You’ll Bring
  • Three (3) years of experience in healthcare or food service is preferred.
  • Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions, recipes, production sheets, and established procedures.
  • Proficient knife skills and the ability to safely operate kitchen equipment.
  • Knowledge of patient diets is preferred.
  • ServSafe or Food Handler certification is preferred; if not already certified, you must successfully obtain certification within six months of hire.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn department-specific systems and programs.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professionalism, sound judgment, integrity, kindness, and empathy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations appropriately.

Schedule:

PRN scheduled as needed, variable shifts. Some weekend and Holiday coverage needed. Flexibility in scheduling is required.

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.

PRN positions (also referred to as Casual, As Needed, or Per Diem) at Logan Health offer flexibility and are designed to provide coverage during busy periods, employee absences, and vacations, making them an excellent opportunity to support the team as needed. PRN employees can participate in a matching 401(k) plan and have access to the Employee Assistance Program. Additionally, they may qualify for hourly differential pay for certain shifts or hours, offering extra compensation based on department-specific scheduling needs. Pay rates and scheduling practices may vary by department.
