Job Title: Cook

We are hiring immediately for a seasonal Cook position at Canteen.

Location

Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts - 1601 Broadway, Kansas City, MO 64108. Note: online applications accepted only.

Schedule

Seasonal schedule. Days and hours may vary, based on client needs; more details upon interview.

Requirements

Previous high-volume catering experience is preferred but not required.

Pay Range

$18.00 to $23.00 per hour.

Job Summary

Prepares food according to standards, guidelines, and regulations, ensuring quality food service at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepares high-quality food items according to recipes and instructions to meet schedules.
  • Serves meals or prepares for delivery, ensuring correct portioning, temperature, attractiveness, and taste. Tastes all prepared food.
  • Uses established ticket collection procedures. Responsible for records during service.
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and service, maintains cleanliness, and handles excess food safely.
  • Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and organized, stores food and supplies properly.
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment.
  • Assists in production planning, record keeping, and reporting.
  • Assists in ordering and receiving food and supplies.
  • Reports maintenance issues or accidents immediately.
  • Attends in-service and safety meetings.
  • Maintains good relationships with coworkers, customers, and management.
  • Performs job safely, maintaining a safe environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Ensures proper presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures; follows HACCP standards.
  • Commits to safety for oneself and others.
  • Follows all company policies, including safety protocols such as using gloves, oven mitts, slip-resistant shoes, and proper lifting techniques.
