Overview

As a Cook at Sassetta, a vibrant casual Italian restaurant in historic Downtown Dallas, you will play a vital role. Working independently with minimal supervision, you will prepare meals according to recipes and plating specifications to ensure a memorable dining experience. Your responsibilities include prepping, cooking, and dressing dishes, supporting the Sous-Chef in enhancing cuisine quality.

Responsibilities
  1. Complete food and station preparation before restaurant opening to ensure prompt and efficient service during operating hours.
  2. Recognize quality standards in fresh vegetables, fish, dairy, and meat products.
  3. Prepare and deliver dishes according to recipes and plating specifications.
  4. Set up workstations with ingredients and equipment.
  5. Prepare ingredients through peeling, chopping, julienne, brunoise, cross chopping, etc.
  6. Cook using various utensils and methods (stir-frying, grilling, roasting, baking, sautéing, poaching, simmering).
  7. Ensure attractive presentation and high quality of all food.
  8. Ensure dishes are served simultaneously, with high quality, and in a timely manner.
  9. Maintain a sanitized and organized kitchen environment.
  10. Assist the Sous-Chef in improving overall cuisine quality.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications
  1. High School diploma or equivalent; hotel or related experience preferred.
  2. Culinary experience required.
  3. Flexibility and willingness to work long hours when needed.
  4. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
  5. Ability to stand throughout the shift.
  6. Thorough knowledge of menus and preparation standards.
