Job Title: Cook

YOU MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK AND DRUG SCREEN TO QUALIFY FOR EMPLOYMENT.

Responsible for preparing residence meals in accordance with planned menus and sanitary regulations. Assists with the ordering and purchasing of food and food service supplies. Reviews dietary requirements of the Residents and assists in meeting dietary restrictions.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

1. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Requires the ability to prepare appetizing residence meals that meet Resident and ICC expectations, work within an established food budget, exercise good judgment, make ethical decisions, manage time effectively, and communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Must be able to perform frequent lifting, bending, stretching, stooping, and standing for long periods.
2. Education: A high school diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.
3. Experience: At least one year of cooking experience required.
4. Certificates/Licenses: Sanitation License if required by county or state.

Essential Functions:

1. Perform all duties and responsibilities with a positive attitude, demonstrating impeccable ethics and integrity.
2. Prepare residence meals and special event foods in accordance with sanitary regulations and ICC policies and procedures.
3. Prepare meals according to established menus, recipes, inventories, portion control guidelines, and sanitation standards.
4. Create meals that are appetizing in appearance and taste.
5. Assist in ordering, purchasing, and inventory of food and supplies.
6. Meet with food service personnel to address issues and improve services.
7. Review dietary requirements of Residents regularly and assist in meal planning.
8. Maintain adequate stock levels of food and supplies.
9. Assist in cleaning duties in the kitchen/dining area.
10. Maintain portion control during food service.
11. Keep food production records and ensure team members record meals accurately.
12. Ensure kitchen equipment is in proper working condition.
13. Conduct tours in the absence of management.
14. Attend required training and orientations.
15. Respond to Residents’ requests appropriately.
16. Respect Residents’ rights, privacy, and dignity.
