Job summary

Streets of New York, Inc. is seeking a dependable Cook for our casual pizza restaurant in Peoria, AZ. You will prepare menu items, stock workstations, and assist with inventory while keeping a clean, safe kitchen.

Flexibility for evenings, weekends and holidays is required. Pay ranges from $16 to $20 per hour depending on experience. Sick pay and medical/dental/vision insurance are available for full-time staff, plus employee discounts on food and beverages.

Qualifications

• Must have current Maricopa County Food Handler’s Certificate.
• Previous experience as a line cook or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of cooking methods and equipment.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
• Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items according to Streets of New York recipes and quality standards.
• Set up and stock workstations with all necessary supplies.
• Ensure food is prepared in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean, organized workstation following health and safety regulations.
• Assist in food inventory management and report shortages to the kitchen manager.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff for smooth operation, timely service.
• Maintain equipment and utensils, ensuring cleaning and proper storage.
• Follow sanitation and safety protocols for a safe work environment.
• Assist with menu item development and promotions as needed.
• Heavy lifting such as 50-lb bags of flour and moving boxes of meats, cheeses, vegetables.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items according to Streets of New York recipes and quality standards
• Set up and stock workstations with all necessary supplies
• Ensure that all food is prepared in a timely manner
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to all health and safety regulations
• Assist in food inventory management and report any shortages to the kitchen manager
• Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation and timely service
• Maintain equipment and utensils, ensuring they are cleaned and properly stored
• Follow sanitation and safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment
• Assist with menu item development and special promotions as needed
• Some heavy lifting required, such as a 50-lb bags of flour. Additionally, moving boxes of varying sizes and weights with meats, cheeses, vegetables, etc.
