Job summary

Vista Senior Living Management is seeking a reliable Cook to support Lakeshore Manor, a senior living community, with nutritional meals for residents.

The role runs 1:00 PM–7:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with alternating weekends. You will prepare meals, maintain kitchen cleanliness, and ensure food quality and safety while supporting a compassionate care team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school is a plus.
• Experience with food preparation and sanitation.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate well.
• Willingness to follow safety procedures and maintain cleanliness.
• Good physical stamina for long shifts.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.).
• Cook food in various utensils or grillers.
• Check food while cooking to stir or turn.
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served.
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen.
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
• Check quality of ingredients.
• Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages.

Position: Cook

Work Hours: 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with every other weekend (AM & PM double shift).

Hours: 40 hours per week.

We are looking for a positive and reliable Cook who understands how important his/her work is to providing quality care for residents.

Responsibilities

Skills

• Preferred Prior Cook experience but not required
• Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
• Ability to work in a team
• Very good communication skills
• Excellent physical condition and stamina
• High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage
