Overview

Join our nutrition team as a part-time Cook at our campus in Norfolk, VA. Responsibilities include preparing meals according to the daily menu, overseeing kitchen operations such as inventory, record keeping, and planning. Schedule

Part-time, 20-28 hours per week, with rotational shifts including Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm, 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm, and rotating weekends (2 weekends per month, 7:30 am to 6:00 pm). Additional shift differential is offered for weekend hours.

Pay

$17.00-$19.00 per hour, based on relevant experience.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Cook; catering or bulk cooking experience preferred.
  • Ability to handle all aspects of food preparation and operate kitchen equipment.
  • Professional school experience is a plus.
  • Valid Norfolk Food Handler’s Certificate; Servsafe Certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Capability to push/pull a food cart exceeding 200 pounds.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and sanitation.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare meals from menus planned by the Director or Production Manager.
  • Decorate and prepare cakes for dorms and special functions.
  • Maintain inventory and prepare menus.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of all work areas.
  • Follow USDA Food Program guidelines and local health and fire department regulations.

Additional Qualifications
