Job summary

Meow Wolf in Houston is seeking a part-time Cook to support immersive culinary experiences. You will prepare a variety of menu items, follow standardized recipes, and maintain safety and cleanliness in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

The role reports to the Food & Beverage Manager and offers hourly pay with opportunities for growth within a creative, inclusive team at Meow Wolf.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Proven experience working as a cook/prep cook.
• Food handler certification (ServSafe preferred).
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).

Our cooks prepare a variety of menu items, interact with Food & Beverage Team Members, and assess guest needs and preferences to make menu recommendations. *Hourly Pay for this position is $18/hr.***Job Responsibilities:*** Prepare and cook food items according to standardized recipes and menu specifications.* Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures to ensure food quality and safety.* Adhere to portion control guidelines and presentation standards.* Collaborate with kitchen team members to coordinate food preparation and order execution.* Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, including washing dishes and equipment.* Assist in food inventory management as needed.* Comply with all food and beverage regulations.* Deliver a memorable guest experience through exceptional customer service.* Restock and replenish kitchen inventory and supplies.* Remain knowledgeable on menu offerings, ingredients and potential allergens.* Report emergencies to the manager.* Respond to injuries and emergencies appropriately.* Collaborate with other team members to create and maintain a pleasant environment.* Communicate with others to exchange information.* Follow and enforce safety rules.* Maintain composure in stressful situations.* Other duties as assigned.**Required Qualifications:*** Must be 18 years of age or older.* Proven experience working as a cook/prep cook.* Possess a food handler card from an accredited training course, preferably ServSafe.* Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.* Ability to work in a fast-paced and teamwork-oriented environment.* Excellent communication and time management skills.* Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.* Strong service skills and welcoming demeanor required.* Bilingual preferred, especially but not limited to English and Spanish.**Work Environment:**This position works primarily in an indoor kitchen setting.**Physical Demands:*** Moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.* Remaining in a standing position for prolonged periods.* Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.* Positioning, lifting, or moving objects up to 50 pounds.***The employee will comply with company and OSHA standard workplace safety protocols.
