Job summary

The Cypress of Charlotte is seeking a hospitality-focused Part-Time Cook to join our Culinary Services team. This role handles full-scope production cooking across all kitchen stations, ensuring quality, consistency, and timely meal preparation for residents and guests.

Responsibilities include prepping soups, stocks, sauces, and various cooking methods per standardized recipes, while maintaining safety and portion control.

Qualifications

• SERV Safe Certification preferred.
• Experience in hospital or senior living preferred.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic and understand measurements and conversions.
• A minimum of three years’ experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, club or similar institution.
• Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards.
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet.
• Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, and follow oral and written instructions in English.

Position: Cook, Part-Time

Schedule: Up to 24 hours per week, must be flexible to workthe following shifts:

• Monday - Saturday: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm & 12:30 pm - 9:00 pm
• Sundays: 7:00 am - 4:00 pm
• Must be able to work weekends

Pay: $20.00 - $22.51 per hour

Position Summary:

The Cypress of Charlotte is recruiting for a hospitality focused Cook to join our team! This position is responsible for full-scope, hands on production cooking in the Culinary Services Department.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Ability to work all stations in the kitchen.
• Efficiently runs assigned station during the shift, follow all specs, and stock food as needed.
• Maintains the quality of food and plate presentation.
• Prepares all soups, stocks, sauces; boils, braises and roasts items as per standardized recipes.
• Prepares and serves all sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed and baked items as per standardized recipes.
• Prepares or directs the preparation of all food served, following standard recipes and special diet orders. Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours, so that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food is preserved.
• Determines amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus and seeing that supplies are obtained from storage areas in adequate time for meal production.
