Job description

McFadden's Sports Saloon is an Irish sports bar offering classic pub food and tremendous sports viewing, in a comfortable tavern setting. Serving lunch, dinner, and a dynamic nightlife, the restaurant and bar is equipped with state-of-the-art technology including digital surround sound and high-definition plasma TVs, making it the perfect venue to watch sports and hang out with friends.

Cook Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Control food usage to minimize waste.
2. Prepare and cook orders for daily operations in a timely manner.
3. Advise supervisor of low inventory items; assist in receiving items and taking inventory as required.
4. Restock items as needed through the shift.
5. Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area that meet or exceed health regulations.
6. Maintain a clean, neat, and well-organized work area, including reach-ins, walk-ins, and counters.
7. Report all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
8. Assist with other kitchen duties such as dishwashing as needed.
9. Promote teamwork and quality service through communication and coordination with other departments. May interact directly with guests occasionally.
10. Perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Cook Qualifications

1. At least one year of experience cooking on a fast-paced kitchen line and food preparation experience.
2. Culinary certification preferred.
3. Basic knowledge of cooking, following recipes, portion control, and presentation.
4. Strong communication skills for interacting with team members and supervisors.
5. Ability to read and write, especially for following recipes and monitoring inventory.
6. Mathematical skills including basic math, percentages, and quantities.
7. Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or health/food handler card as required by local or state regulations.
8. Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical and Other Requirements

1. Ability to lift items weighing up to 75 pounds.
2. Stand and move efficiently within the kitchen environment.
3. Handle food, objects, products, and utensils safely.
