Emiliano’s is bringing the tastes of Italy to Riverdale. We are a rapidly growing, high end Italian Specialty Eatery and Food Market and we recently expanded our store to add more seating and a gelateria.

We are currently seeking an experienced cook (Italian cuisine) to oversee the kitchen and catering. The kitchen prepares hot breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition, the kitchenteam preps food for the deli sandwiches and catering orders.

The ideal person will have deep knowledge in authentic Italian cuisine and in managing a commercial kitchen.

Job Description – Cook/ Kitchen Manager – Italian Cuisine

TheCook/ Kitchen Managerwill assist the owners as they manage the inventory of food and beverages, equipment, and supplies related to the kitchen operations. Responsible for following food preparation, portion sizes, and the overall presentation of food. Ensure compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and kitchen maintenance. Ensuring kitchen is kept clean and according to code is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for completing the necessary tasks required to oversee the operation of the kitchen
  • Perform cooking and oversee small kitchen staff
  • With establishment owners, expandand execute menu
  • Oversee and execute catering orders
  • Monitor inventory and amount of food that is being utilized
  • Ensure compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and serving.
  • Monitor food preparation methods and presentation of food in order to ensure that food is prepared and presented in an exceptional manner.
  • Assist with receiving food and beverage deliveries, and checking delivery contents in order to verify product quality and quantity.
  • Maintain food and equipment inventories, and document inventory records as directed by owner
  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of workspace to be in compliance with all sanitation and department of health standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by owner

Requirements:

  • Must have demonstrated experience working in commercial kitchen and running kitchen operations
  • Experience with Italian food prep and cooking
  • Must have food handling certificate or be willing to acquire it
  • Experience working in Italian food market/restaurant highly desirable
  • Catering experience highly desirable
  • Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
  • A team player with good communication skills
  • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure and supporting kitchen staff
  • Very good physical condition and endurance
