Job Description

The Cook III performs complex food service tasks, including preparing, cooking, and serving food for regular and modified diets. This role provides guidance and oversight to kitchen staff, ensuring quality and safety standards are met. Responsibilities include operating food equipment, preparing large quantities of food following recipes, maintaining sanitation, and training staff.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and serve food according to dietary guidelines and safety standards.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely.
• Train and oversee kitchen staff.
• Maintain sanitation and proper storage of food and equipment.
• Complete records and report equipment issues.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of food preparation, storage, and sanitation.
• Skill in cooking, baking, and operating food equipment.
• Ability to interpret recipes and prepare large quantities of food.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds and work in hot/cold conditions.
• Valid Texas driver license or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Food Safety certification preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Additional Requirements

• Pass background checks, drug screening, and registry checks.
• Must be at least 18 years old; 21 for Waco Center for Youth.
• Flexibility to work extended hours or overtime as needed.
• Compliance with immunization policies.
