POSITION INFORMATION
- Baker School District is currently seeking a candidate for one Cook II position forthe 2027-2028 school year.
- Position located at Baker High School.
- Start Date: August 23, 2027.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Under general direction, plans, prepares, cooks, and serves meals in large quantities to students and staff in a cafeteria setting; maintains required food service and production records; performs other job-related duties as required.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- 1.Supervise, train and provide direction to Cook I personnel.
- 2. Prepare and serve meals from a basic menu in a timely manner. Complete prep work for the first day of the school week on the prior work day.
- 3. Maintain quality and portion control. Use daily lunch counts to prepare the appropriate number of meals for each site.
- 4. Maintain, clean, and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen work space.
- 5. Immediately report to the food service director and/or principal any problems or accidents occurring on the kitchen and/or cafeteria premises.
- 6. Operate and maintain kitchen equipment following all safety and sanitary rules and regulations.
- 7. Report inferior quality of food or faulty equipment to the food service director.
- 8. Supervise and instruct kitchen personnel in the safe, proper, and efficient use of the kitchen and its equipment following all safety and sanitary rules and regulations related to food handling.
- 9. Compile, order, and store needed supplies, including any field trips, after school snack programs, or other extraordinary meal related activities.
- 10. Keep accurate pre and post production records of all meals and snacks served (food, beverages, and inventory).
- 11. Work cooperatively with the principal and coordinate instructional activities requiring kitchen facilities use by non-kitchen personnel.
- 12. Utilize the Daily Meal Count Form and tally all daily meal counts accurately.
- 13. Ensure that the meal count tally matches the pre and post production records.
- 14. Scan and email meal records to the food service director at the end of each work day.
- 15. Send all hard copies including the daily meal count forms, invoices and receipts to the food service director via interoffice mail at the end of each week.
- 16. Participate in in-service and/or professional development programs, funded by the district, when requested by administrator/supervisor.
- 17. Comply with all applicable district, state, and federal policies and laws.
- 18. Perform other duties as may be assigned.
SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS
- Food Handler's Card
- Competence in supervising others.
- A proficiency in the preparation of large quantities of food.
- Good human relations with the ability to communicate in a courteous manner.
- A neat appearance.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
SALARY
- 2027-2028Salary Scale $20.93- $26.74 per hour. Placement for a new employee on the salary schedule will be in accordance with the BSD 5J/OSEA collective bargaining agreement.
- Baker School District 5J offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package for health and retirement. In addition, the District pays the six percent (6%) employee PERS contribution required by ORS 238.200 and ORS 238A.330.
DISTRICT POLICY
