Job summary

Management & Training Corporation in Livingston, TX is hiring for a full-time kitchen/food service role at the IAH Secure Adult Detention Facility. You will prepare and cook meals for detainees, maintain a clean, safe kitchen, and supervise detainees assisting in the kitchen.

The position requires a high school diploma, food service training and at least one year of related experience; a Texas driver’s license may be requested.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Food service training, one (1) year of food service or related experience and prior supervisory experience are preferred.
• Must obtain a food handlers permit within the first week of employment and successfully complete required preservice training.
• A valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook quantity of food required according to menu and number of detainees.
• Maintain kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition. Ensure work area is safe, clean and sanitary at all times.
• Maintain accountability of kitchen tools.
• Prepare foods as directed for special facility functions and visitors and assist in cleaning kitchen work areas following each meal.
• Supervise detainees assigned to assist in the kitchen.
• Requires long periods of walking and standing and the pushing and pulling of food carts.
