Job summary

Indiana University Health's Riley Children’s Hospital is seeking a Food Service Aide to support pediatric meal preparation. You will work under supervision, handling regular and therapeutic diets, and ensure proper handling of food in a fast-paced hospital kitchen.

This full-time role requires basic cooking skills, ability to operate kitchen equipment, wear protective gear, and meet health and safety standards. Monday through Friday, 12p–8p shifts with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.
• No experience required; healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment and follow safety rules.
• Must be able to wear protective equipment (gowns, gloves, goggles, etc.).
• Must meet local health regulations and safety requirements.

Hours: Monday-Friday 12p-8pm
Location: Riley Children's Hospital
Performs supervised tasks related to the preparation of food. Meal preparations include regular and therapeutic diets. Utilizes foundational skills of basic cooking techniques, operates kitchen equipment and maintains a clean and organized workspace.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 1-3 years of cooking experience required.
• Healthcare food service experience is preferred.
• Candidates without healthcare experience should have experience preparing and serving meals for a high volume of customers within a fast-paced environment and under tight time constraints.

Requirements

• Requires the ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.
• Requires adherence to local health regulations and safety requirements to produce safe food for consumption.
• Requires the ability to climb ladders.
• Physical requirements to include: reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.
