Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is seeking a hospital cook to prepare hot and cold meals for patients and staff in the Food & Nutrition department. You will follow standardized recipes and use standard kitchen equipment to ensure quality and minimize waste.

The role requires weekend availability and may include holidays or other shifts. Preferred candidates have five years of high-volume hospital or institutional cooking experience and can read complex recipes and calculations.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and other shifts as needed.
• Five (5) years of experience in high volume hospital, institutional or restaurant cooking preferred.
• Ability to read and understand written instructions, recipes and various calculations preferred.

• Prepares hot and cold food items according to standardized recipes for patients, cafeteria, physician’s lounge and catering.
• Ensures product quality and availability meet established standards with minimal waste.
• Effectively communicates inventory status to Executive Chef, Product Expeditor or Supervisor.
• Establishes sound working relationships with line staff to promote patient tray accuracy and assembly efficiencies.
• Assists with patient meal service according to service standards as necessary.
