Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking a part-time cook to join the Dining/Aux Ops team at 26 Gibbs Street, Rochester, NY 14604. The role is 33 hours per week with a compensation range of $21.10–$28.64 per hour, under the UR SEIU 028 contract.

Responsibilities include following recipes, preparing meals for patients, students, employees and visitors, and ensuring sanitation and safety standards. Supervisors include the Food Production Manager and designated authority.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, understand, and follow oral and written instructions in English.
• 1-2 years work experience in food preparation, 1 year as a Cook; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to lift items weighing approximately 40-50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Follow predetermined instructions, recipes, and menus to prepare foods for patients, students, employees, and visitors.
• Prepare meals and items such as breakfast, lunch, and selected dinners.
• Coordinate work with Cook Helpers and related staff under supervision.
• Maintain sanitation and safety standards in all serving areas.
• Plan for the following day’s meals and inventory.
