  • Location: Natick, MA.
  • Shift: Up to 37 hours per week (hours will vary based on operational needs).

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Cook I to join our food service team at a high-volume dining facility on the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center (NSSC). This entry-level role supports daily kitchen operations by assisting with food preparation, maintaining sanitation standards, and ensuring timely meal service for service members and personnel.

  • Assist with basic food prep tasks such as chopping, mixing, and assembling ingredients.
  • Follow standardized recipes and portion guidelines under supervision.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and maintain cleanliness of workstations.
  • Support food safety and sanitation protocols in compliance with health regulations.

What You’ll Need to be Successful:
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of hands‑on experience in a kitchen support role such as Kitchen Assistant, Kitchen Aide, or entry‑level Cook.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience working in a commercial, institutional, or high‑volume kitchen environment.
  • Basic culinary knowledge and willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation practices (ServSafe preferred).
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Basic math skills for measuring and inventory support.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management.

Physical & Environmental Demands:
  • The position requires standing for extended periods, with occasional walking, bending, and reaching throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move food items, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Frequent physical activity including stirring, chopping, mixing, and handling kitchen tools and ingredients.
  • Repetitive hand and arm movements are required for tasks such as food prep, plating, and operating kitchen equipment.
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills are essential for precise cutting, measuring, and assembling dishes.
  • Work is performed in a fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, sharp tools, and moderate to high noise levels.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, aprons, and hairnets, may be required depending on task and area; training will be provided.
