Job description

We are currently hiring for a Cook (Chop & Puree) in our Food Service department. Please see below to learn about the qualifications and requirements.

Prepare all meals in accordance with health guidelines and follow the menu plan as written. Ensure food is cooked properly, paying attention to special diets, portion sizes, and textures as defined by diet.

Responsibilities:
  1. Follow all menus as written.
  2. Ensure all menu items are properly prepared in time for meal service.
  3. Prepare food under sanitary conditions following all time and temperature regulations.
  4. Prepare diets to the correct consistency as stated by diet orders.
  5. Prepare special restricted diets as specified.
  6. Label all food properly during preparation.
  7. Clean work area and equipment between different menu items.
  8. Coordinate with the Kitchen supervisor for updates or changes.
  9. Report any issues regarding equipment or food supplies.
  10. Perform other duties as instructed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of equipment used in the food service department (commercial food processor, oven, stove, steamer).
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions, including planned menus.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Experience in making chop and puree foods preferred (preparing, cooking, and processing menu items).
  • Food sanitation certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to maintain kitchen sanitation during shifts.

Pay: $21.00/hr

Job Details:
  • Type: Full-time
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm, with two weekends per month (Saturday and Sunday, 8am-4pm)
