Schedule: Full Time | 80 hours per pay period | Day hours and flexible scheduling | Includes every other weekend and holiday.
As a Cook, you’ll prepare high-quality meals that nourish and delight our residents while ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming kitchen environment. You’ll follow recipes, accommodate dietary needs, and help create a positive dining experience that fosters connection and community.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare and serve meals—following recipes and dietary guidelines while ensuring taste, nutrition, and presentation meet high standards.
- Support meal planning—adjusting menus as needed, preparing for the next day’s meals, and ensuring appropriate portion sizes.
- Ensure food safety—practicing proper handling, storage, and sanitation, always following food safety guidelines.
- Accommodate dietary needs—preparing allergen-free meals, honoring resident and customer preferences, and offering appropriate substitutions when needed.
- Maintain a clean kitchen—sanitizing workstations, utensils, and equipment, and following best practices to keep the kitchen safe and organized.
- Manage inventory—help tracking food and supply needs, monitoring usage, and reporting shortages.
- Foster teamwork—assist with training and mentoring team members, help with scheduling, and ensure smooth daily operations.
- Assist with special events—help plan, prepare, and execute resident events and celebrations.
- Perform other duties as assigned—supporting daily tasks per facility and departmental policies, assisting with resident evacuations during emergencies, supporting event preparation and cleanup, collaborating with the CDM, attending training and meetings, and assisting in other areas as needed.
Requirements:
- Previous cooking experience in an institutional or food service setting is preferred but not required.
- Completion of a state-approved food safety course is preferred.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- A positive attitude and patience when working with residents, families, and staff.
- Ability to pass a state-required background check.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform required duties.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to communicate effectively with staff, residents, and visitors.
