  • Location: HSHS St. John's Hospital - 800 East Carpenter St., Springfield IL 62769. Note: online applications accepted only.
  • Schedule: Full-time. Thursday - Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm and 10:00 am to 6:30 pm. More details upon interview.
  • Requirement: 2 years of cooking and food service experience required.
  • Pay Range: $16.50 per hour to $19.00 per hour

Job Summary

Summary: Prepares food according to federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations with established policies and procedures. Ensures quality food service at all times.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Prepares high-quality food items per standardized recipes to meet production, delivery, and service schedules.
  • Serves meals or prepares for delivery, ensuring correct portioning, temperature, attractiveness, and taste. Tastes all prepared food.
  • Uses established ticket collection procedures during service and maintains records from the area worked.
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and service, maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Stores or discards excess food per safe food-handling procedures.
  • Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and organized. Ensures proper storage of food and supplies.
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
  • Assists in production planning, record keeping, and reporting as required.
  • Assists in ordering and receiving food and supplies.
  • Reports maintenance issues, faulty equipment, or accidents immediately.
  • Attends in-service and safety meetings.
  • Maintains good relationships with coworkers, customers, and management.
  • Performs job safely, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Ensures proper presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures, following HACCP standards.
  • Prioritizes safety for oneself and others.
  • Abides by all company policies, including safe handling of knives and hot equipment, proper footwear, and lifting techniques.
